Brunch Places for New Year's Day

Patch found places in Lake Ridge, Occoquan, and nearby Woodbridge open for brunch on New Year's Day.

So now that we've told you where to go in town for New Year's Eve, we thought that we'd take it one step further if you're looking for a place to go for New Year's brunch in the Lake Ridge area. No one wants to spend the first day of 2011 driving from place to place, so we did some work for you, and put together a list of local brunch spots.

Bistro L' Hermitage

For something upscale we suggest Bistro L' Hermitage, located at 12724 Occoquan Rd. Owner Youssef Essakl has established a team of chefs from the Water Gate kitchen along with Chef Dawn Burkhart, who worked with the esteemed Jean Luis Paladin.

We suggest you try the Eggs Norwegian, a poached egg dish with salmon instead of ham. Light and fresh, it pairs well with a Bloody Mary or mimosa. Reservations are recommended.

Cock & Bowl

For something more casual, we recommend Cock & Bowl located at 302 Poplar Alley in Occoquan, offering Belgium food and a selection of beers and wine in a quaint cottage-like setting.  While a traditional brunch menu is not available, Cock & Bowl serves Belgium waffles everyday!

Virginia Grill

Virginia Grill-Occoquan Inn located at 301 Mill St will be serving New Year's brunch. Open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. Virginia Grill offers a selection of old fashioned favorites; reservations are welcome, as well as walk ins.

Silver Diner

The Silver Diner located right outside of Potomac Mills is one of many, but the entire chain actually started with a small dinette in Silver Spring, Maryland.  The retro atmosphere and huge menu offers everything from milkshakes to french toast and Silver Diner starts serving early, so you can have breakfast or brunch at anytime of day.
