Prince William County Fire Marshal's office is investigating a boat fire that sent one man to the hospital Thursday evening.
Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Firefighters responded to Prince William Marina at 6:45 p.m. Thursday.
"OWL Engine 502 and Engine 514, Truck 514 and Medic 502 arrived on the scene within minutes and found fire from inside the galley of the boat and was under control within 15 minutes," said OWL VFD public relations specialist Rebecca Barnes.
Barnes said in a release that the boat was dry docked and located inside a bay being worked on by a crew.
"There was one injury and that patient was flown out to Washington Hospital Center," said Barnes. "The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Prince William County Fire Marshal’s office."
Prince William Marina posted on its Facebook page that the patient is in "great spirits" and is recovering from second degree burns on his legs and arms.
