Fire Marshal: Prince William Marina Boat Fire Accidental

The fire caused about $100,000 in damages.

A boat fire at Prince William Marina on Aug. 3 was accidental, the Prince William County Fire Marshal's Office said.

Fire and rescue units responded to the fire at about 6 p.m., and found smoke coming from one of the boats. The fire was under control within 15 minutes, Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department spokesperson Rebecca Barnes said.

The fire left one person injured and caused about $100,000 in damages. The owner was working on the boat at the time of the fire, and the boat was in dry dock.

The person injured suffered second-degree burns and was treated at a regional hospital.

Prince William Marina posted on its Facebook page that the man is hoping to return home on Tuesday and is recovering from his burns.
