Grab & Go Planner: Finding Family Fun This Week

Family Fun in the area for the last week in March.

 

Looking for something fun to do with the kids this week?  Spring has sprung and it is time to get out of the house.

There are plenty of fun events this week from Spring Carnivals to the Annual Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC.  Whether you want to be outside taking in nature or inside taking in art, this week’s activities should provide various options to take advantage of your sunny disposition.

As usual Chinn Library has some fun and educational reading related activities for the young ones, and their moms and dads.  They theme this week is spring!

Storytime & Kid’s Activities: For ages 2-7 with caregivers. 

March 23 Wednesday Wonders: SPRING has Sprung!

March 25 Friday Flicks: Fun at the Farm

March 28 Bedtime Story Hour: Smile!

March 29 Tuesday Tales: Hairy Tales.

Prince William County School Activities also has plenty going on from carnivals to book fairs to musical performances, and even a countywide art show!

The County Arts Festival will be held on Saturday, March 26 at Battlefield High School from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  It will feature student artists from all of the Prince William County Schools.  Artwork includes two and three-dimension pieces, plus live student performances.

All County Band performs at Stonewall Middle School on March 25 and 26.

On March 23 Springwood Elementary School will host its Grade 3 Musical Performance from 7-8 p.m. 

March 25 is PTA BINGO Night at Antietam Elementary School from 7-9 p.m.

It’s Spring Carnival time on March 26 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Lake Ridge Elementary School  and Rockledge Elementary School.

Old Bridge Elementary School is holding its Book Fair on March 28-31.

It is Math Night twice this week at Occoquan Elementary School, on March 29 for Kindergarten through 2nd grade and March 30 for grades 3-5 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Westridge Elementary School will have its Book Fair on March 28-31 and Family Fun Night on March 29 from 6:30-8:00 p.m., including a Science Fair at 6:30, and other events. 

Sports are back in play:

Tennis, Soccer, and Baseball seasons are well underway, check out the Woodbridge Senior High School Calendar, and makes plans to attend a game and cheer your Vikings to victory.

In-town Activities:

Spring means new enrollment for activities.  Do not let these opportunities pass you by.

Three Story Tellers children’s book store in Occoquan is hosting the following crafty events this week: Friday, March 25, 11:00 a.m. - Painted Flowerpot, and Monday, March 28, 11:00 a.m. - Brown Paper-bag Card.

Edgemoor Art Studio is now taking enrollments for their spring classes at a 10% discount.  They offer art and classes, introducing sophisticated concepts for children of all ages

Northern Virginia Activities: 

Dress up or dress down- it’s your choice this week:

It's All About the Birds at Algonkian meeting center in Sterling this Thursday, March 31.  Come explore the nature world of birds with a guided tour from a naturalist.  Call the Algonkian Regional Park to make your reservations now.  The tour is free!

Dress up with Grown ups Gala , on March 26 in The Mason Inn Conference Center & Hotel in Fairfax City, is an elegant sit-down dinner for adults and children with a DJ and a dance floor.  Best of all money raised goes to medical care of uninsured children in Northern Virginia.
