Lake Ridge Burger King Opening Delayed Once Again

Owner Ron Devine said the soft opening should happen in a couple of weeks, with the grand opening happening in September.

The reopening of the Burger King has been delayed yet again. Owner and operator Ron Devine now estimates the grand opening will happen in September.

"You want to know what's taking so long? We're heavily into the permitting process," Devine said. Everything's set up in the dining room, and completing the permitting process is the last major step, he said.

The construction is done, Devine told Patch a couple of weeks ago. The plywood over the windows is just to keep people from breaking into the restaurant.

"We're going to have a soft opening I hope here in a couple of weeks, and then a grand opening in September," he added.

Perhaps a story of interest for the Patch staff and readership would be to examine the PWC permitting process. What takes so long? How does our process match up with our neighbors? Can the process be improved to attract more business and get them up and running in a timely manner? How many companies/business have chosen not to locate in PWC because of the protracted permitting process?
