Updated: NVCC Woodbridge Campus Evacuated Due to Gas Leak
Prince William County Police said fire and rescue units were evacuating.
"A gas line was hit accidentally and the campus buildings have been evacuated," said Carlene Mackereth, public information officer for the community college in an email to Patch. "The gas line has been clamped and fans are being used to clear any lingering fumes. Everyone will be allowed back in the buildings when it is safe. We’re hoping classes can resume in about 20 minutes."
The community college's six-week summer program runs from June 27 to Aug. 8 at six campus locations, including Woodbridge.
As of 11:40 a.m., the school had not posted any alerts on its emergency preparedness website or its Facebook page.
In May, the campus was evacuated due to a bomb threat. Police later determined that the threat was not credible.
This is a breaking news story, Patch will update with more information.
