Police: Woodbridge Man Shot in Lower Back in Lake Ridge

Police say the incident is not random.

Police are investigating a shooting that took place the evening of Sept. 17 in the area of Woodfern Court and Antietam Road, Prince William County police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said.

Police responded to the above area at 9:40 p.m. for a report of a shooting. An 18-year-old Woodbridge man told police that he and three friends were walking in the above area when a car full of male acquaintances reportedly pulled up next to them, and several shots were fired.

"One of the rounds struck the victim in the lower back while another grazed one of the other males, a 22-year-old man of Woodbridge, in the head," Perok said. "The vehicle fled the area shortly after the shots were fired. The 18-year-old victim was flown to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The 22-year-old male was not injured."

The shooting is not random and the investigation is ongoing, Perok said.

Actually, the shooting was random. This report is completely misleading and it's thanks to the oh-so-wonderful Prince William County police. Somehow they forgot to mention how they let the 18 year old bleed on the couch while questioning him for 20 minutes, instead of rushing him to the hospital immediately like they should have.

The information that the shooting was not random is attributed to the Prince William County Police, as noted in the article.

Lauren, unfortunately, you're going to get "insight" like Milky McNasty. Maybe Milky was sitting on the couch next to the "victim" being questioned also, which is why he is so upset/bitter. PWCPD should be taking care of business, since the suspects were "a car full of male acquaintances" which means they are KNOWN to the "victim". Maybe the "victim" was sitting on the couch for so long because he didn't want to give up the names of the guys in the vehicle. Of course, it would be the police's fault if those guys conducted another drive-by shooting, since the "victim" didn't want to give them up.

Lately there has been many shootings, stabbings in the woodbridge area, seems like its going back to the early 90's as the events happend in Williamstown, I remember when the this area was so quiet you could hear NOTHING,,,,,, atleast no crazy activity going on like it is now, such a shame, 20 yrs ago this area was pretty rural LOL, but boy has it gone crazy with all the idots that wanna play guns and robbers,

Ridiculous. Infuriates me that these jokers can terrorize the area with no consequences. Two victims know who did this, and still no arrests made. These types of incidents are happening in this area with increasing frequency, and it seems like in too many cases the police are unable to catch the perpetrators. Where is the community outrage about having shootings going on in their neighborhood? Permissiveness and apathy send a message that you can get away with this kind of stuff in Lake Ridge.

We recently moved to Lake Ridge to get away from the increasing police presence in our old neighborhood. We feel completely safe now and all of the neighbors seem like really good people. However, I keep hearing about major crimes in the Lake Ridge area that are well beyond anything we experienced in the old neighborhood. I'm hoping that Lake Ridge has known bad "pockets" where these crimes are isolated to... but it'd be nice to have the LRPA step up and find a way to make the community a safe place for everyone. Perhaps bring in a security company to patrol the community and focus on certain areas. Cameras are needed at the facilities to prevent vandalism especially at the pools. Just imagine if there was a camera at the tennis courts that recorded this shooting. Come on Lake Ridge! We have a great recreational community where everyone loves being outdoors and should feel safe... we don't need drive bys and stabbings going on!!

That's not fair to say," all the police want to do is write tickets". Come on, the police didn't cause the situation. It's the children that each and all of us have raised, Or didn't take the time to teach them whats right and wrong. When I first moved here from Germany 24 years ago. My ex husband was assigned to Ft Belvoir and we didn't make enough money to buy a home in Lake Ridge. We had to settle for Dale City. And t the time we were disappointed. Now I'm relieved I don't live in Lake Ridge. Not that Dale City much better, But crime has increased so much. Stop feeling that Police aren't here to help us. They all live around here somewhere also. If you see something that doesn't look safe report, report report. until the bad guys either stop being bad or move there crime away from where you live. Its your job.

I have had problems. They've been called. They never show up to even take a report because they may have to investigate and do some real police work.
They're lazy.
