Citizen Helps Nab SunTrust Bank Robbery Suspect

Kevin James Mincey, 46, faces robbery and firearms charges.

An alleged bank robber is sitting in the county jail after an eagle-eyed citizen spotted his picture on a CrimeSolvers bulletin and called the authorities, Prince William County Police said.

The citizen told police on Dec. 12 they saw a man matching the suspect's description at the Roadway Inn on Jefferson Davis Highway in Woodbridge. Officers detained Kevin James Mincey, 46, of no fixed address, and later charged him with armed robbery, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

"Detectives from the Robbery Unit were able to connect the accused to the robbery," Officer Jonathan Perok, a spokesman for the police department, said in a press release.

Mincey's court date was set for Jan. 23. He was held without bond.

Information in this article was supplied by the Prince William County Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
