The lobby was packed.

The drive-thru and lobby lines for Woodbridge's Chick-fil-A were longer than usual for the late lunch rush. At times, the line double wrapped around the building and stretched as far as Chipotle.

The Woodbridge Chick-fil-A reopened last month, just in time to take advantage of the mad rush on the fried chicken fast food chain after Mike Huckabee called for supporters of traditional marriage to patronize Chick-fil-A today.

Patch editor Lauren Jost stopped by the popular fast food chain's location in Woodbridge today shortly after the lunch hour ended, and found the restaurant crowded with customers.

Traffic delays followed briefly on Prince William Parkway, as customers began queueing up before the turn into the Chick-fil-A parking lot.

Employees worked outside, taking orders from cars to speed up the process. The lobby was packed. Cars filled every available parking lot nearby, from the Starbucks to Bed, Bath & Beyond.

The county will decide early this month if they will host Chick-fil-A Chief Operating Officer Dan Cathy in November.

Are you supporting Chick-fil-A today or not? Why? Let us know in the comments.

Wasn't that the restaurant where someone was shot and killed?

In response to Michele Canton, yes a women was shot and killed in the drive-thru at that Chick-fil-a, which was the result of a domestic violence case where the estranged husband knew that she was a regular customer, however the shooting was not in anyway related to or caused by the owners, management, or staff of Chick-fil-a.

Yes, I certainly did support Chick-fil-a today and will continue to do so just as I have in the past. As a matter of fact, when my family and I went, the lines were backed up on to Prince William Pkwy, in both directions to include a line of people who were making u-turns from the westbound lane, as well as every nearby parking lot was full. The Chick-fil-a staff was well prepared as they were very efficient with getting us through the drive-thru line within 15 minutes, from start to finish, and our order was exactly as we requested and freshly prepared.

Shame on Prince William County if they do not continue with their plans to host Dan Cathy at the chamber event in November, which I imagine Chick-fil-a represents one of the county's most prosperous businesses. Seems to me that others can learn a lot from this man as it relates to keys for running a successful business, as well as the importance of having the courage to take a stand for values and principles that you believe in.

If Prince William County has any respect for The Firs Ammendment then Dan Cathy should be welcome with open arms. It is refreshing to see someone speak their mind, even if it is not politically correct. It is disgusting to see localities try to silence those with differing opinions. What next - "Re-Education Camps"???

I am so glad I have a brain which I control. One which is not steered by a pulpit, manipulated by hate, and chooses to follow right along with the flock. This doesn't necessarily have anything to do with CF. It is merely a statement which I have the power to type just like all others. I wake up every morning and thank my higher power that I was given the intelligence to lead and not follow.

Being unable to stand for hours in line, I could not attend in person, but I was there in spirit!
Someday, people will learn to not put their foot in their mouth. Someday, but not today.

I too believe that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it does not mean that I have to agree with it especially when it infringes someone's life or beliefs. Apparently we did not learn from the past where millions of lives were taken during WWII all based on one person's views and that view and belief were replicated by othersand and targeted population groups were gassed and/or executed.

Isn't there already enough hate in PWC spewed by Corey Stewart, do we need another hate monger like Dan Cathy spewing his special brand of hate?

Harry Wiggins, what hate are you referring to from Corey Stewart? If you are referring to his stand against illegals in the county, has that not been dragged through the press long enough? It is not a matter of hate, but economics, having to support a large group of people that take freely of housing, welfare, and medical but pay no taxes.

Long before the controversy over Dan Cathy's remarks on marraige I have stayed away from Chick-Fil-A. I don't want my money being funneled to political organizations that work to pass or keep anti-gay legislation. I will continue to eat elsewhere and encourage my friends to do so.

Another reason not to eat at Chick-fil-A, check out the Prince William Health District Inspection Report of June 20, 2012, 13 violations, may be the most ever in PWC, 2 were critical: employees don't wash hands...because the sink is blocked in the kitchen...chicken held at too high a temperature...cooler at 61 degrees, hmmm not too cool...etc.

But won't their god take card of all that crap???? Their main purpose on earth is to pray and make money for the religion so they can build all the moster churches that are going up all over the place. All these bone headed religions will eventually bring the world to its knees but the brain washed/dead don't care cause they think they will be partying with the Spirit in the sky. May the Astroid find us soon.

Rick and Harry, while those reports and statements might make us feel better (self righteous) perhaps we should actually practice what Jesus taught which is forgiveness since "they know not what they do". We can quietly not support evil (ignorance). Since Christians can't follow the teachings of Jesus doesn't mean we can't either, we don't even have to be Christians to do so. Compassion, kindness and forgiveness are universal traits of the human spirit. The spirit is not bound to ideology, in fact, ideology blocks awareness of these traits. Jesus taught that which is done in quiet, which is not boastful or prideful, helps you get closer to God (universal spirit).

A follower is someone who believes in your ideology. CF has a right to their opinion. I as an American who does not follow their views I also have right to my opinion. Therefore I choose not to spend my penny at CF. I choose to not spend my money at a business who is donating it to organizations of hate. This is so simple folks. All the debating in the world will not fix this. Go eat your chickens....and I mean that in the nicest way.

The bottom line in all of this, and other similar issues is that for the most part, what was said is one man's opinion. If you state your position openly, either pro or con, you are opening yourself for further scrutiny. CF and Mr. Cathy have to live with that.
Why is it an actionable offense? He stated his opinion, to which he is entitled. To boycott his business is also going to impact all of the CF employees unjustifiably -- both gay and straight -- that have said nothing about the topic.
