Community Corner

Art Society's 2014 Art Scholarship.

The Prince William Art Society has offered two Jewell Pratt Burns Scholarship awards annually since 2008 to each of two talented graduating county high school students planning on pursuing a degree in Fine Arts or Art Education. Society members donate art to be printed on greeting cards sold at art shows and on line with the proceeds dedicated to supporting these scholarships and outreach. The awards ceremony is a warm moment when member artists, community members and student honorees commit to supporting the vision of these young artists.
Students in public schools, in private schools or who are home-schooled may apply for one of the two $1,000 scholarships. The process is competitive, based on portfolios, essays, teacher recommendations and interviews. The application, as well as past winners, may be viewed from the PrinceWilliamArtSociety.org home page by clicking the tab at the top for "scholarships". The greeting card gift packs which fund these scholarships can be viewed by clicking the "on-line store" tab.
