Prince William County and most of Northern Virginia is under a flood watch Wednesday afternoon before possible snow heads into the area.
The National Weather Service said Tuesday evening that periods of moderate to heavy rainfall are expected Wednesday afternoon to Wednesday night.
Rain is expected to end before sunrise Thursday and amounts of one to two inches of rain is possible.
A flood watch means that there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
NWS also reported a chance of snow between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. Thursday morning with less than a half inch of snow accumulating.
