Santa passed through Lake Ridge this morning, not in a sleigh drawn by reindeer, but in an Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department engine.

Santa was at the end of the annual parade, which started at Lake Ridge Middle School at about 10 a.m. and made its way west to Dillingham Square. Local schools, churches, and elected officials also made appearances alongside police officers mounted on horseback, antique cars, and a boy on a unicycle.

The parade shut down the westbound side of Old Bridge Road, which clogged traffic on the eastbound side as both eastbound and westbound traffic shared one side of the road. A minor car accident delayed the parade for a few minutes as first responders made sure those involved were all right.
