Marumsco Creek Cleanup, November 16,
9:00 AM - Noon

There are lots of opportunities to help in your community. Some are easily accomplished, like a litter pick up, attending a meeting, or working a Bingo for your local not for profit.

Some are more challenging, like the one I am featuring today. The Marumsco Creek cleanup began as a response to the flooding at Marumsco Creek in September 2011. Prince William County commissioned a study to discover what we might be able to do to prevent future incidents. There were a great many recommendations in that study. One of the best deterrents to future flooding is to remove trash and debris that impede or reroute the flow of water.

If you’d like to participate in a great effort that will not only help the waterway, but may also prevent future flooding, work with us on November 16. This cleanup is not for wimps. It’s also not for children under 18.

Share this flyer and invite your friends to work with some great local groups like the Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition. If you have questions, contact Kelly Jimenez, Prince William Soil and Water Conservation: kellyjimenez@pwswcd.org 703-491-2183
