Donate Used Coats in Occoquan Today

The clothing drive ends at 4 p.m.

One of the great things about Occoquan is the spirit of charitable giving prevalent among so many of its residents, business owners, and friends.  One instance of that is on display now, in time for tomorrow's Holiday Open House.

One Degree Capital is concluding a drive to collect coats for the less fortunate. You can drop off used coats at their offices at 204 Commerce Street until 4 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16.

The coats they collect will be combined with those collected by young Tessa Yates, last year's recipient of the Prince William Salvation Army's volunteer-of-the-year award. Tessa is holding her second annual coat drive, and will have a bin on the grounds of Town Hall for the collection of coats during Friday's Holiday Open House.

Please consider donating your unused coats for those in need, and thank you both One Degree Capital and Tessa Yates for your commitment to the community.

I so appreciate Rich Anderson's presence on this committee. My biggest question is why didn't anyoneRead More have a plan for jobs to take effect if these cuts happened. Did anyone calculate the expense to the economy that would occur from Sequestration or plan to offset that expense?

Stopped by for lunch yesterday and had the turkey-avocado BLT with sweet tea and fries -- delicious.Read More Dave and Eric, the new managers, are good, hardworking guys who I wish all the best in their new venture. As Earnie said, Dave and Sarah have developed a diverse and interesting menu, with some pleasant surprise offerings, the prices are reasonable and they're going to be open seven days a week for breakfast to dinner, something many other Occoquan restaurants don't do. Give them a try, and tell them Chuck the Foodie sent you.
