Occoquan Mayor Sends Post-Hurricane Instructions

Though some residents lost power in Occoquan due to downed power lines, the power was restored yesterday evening at 6:30 p.m.

Occoquan Mayor Earnie Porta gave post-hurricane tips to town residents:

"Occoquan residents without power should have seen it restored at approximately 6:30 [yesterday] evening.  Additionally, those of you who had power, but for whom Comcast service was interrupted, should have seen that restored by 6 p.m. or earlier.  If you are still experiencing a power or other service interruption please be sure to telephone the appropriate service provider, as they may at this time believe all outages in town have been resolved.

With the exception of some service outages, Occoquan came through the storm quite well.  The river never reached dangerous levels and there is no evident material damage or debris along the town waterfront.  For those concerned about downed trees on their property, the town has in the past received tree service bids from a number of firms/individuals.  While we cannot vouch directly for any of them, I am passing along contact information for the two that most recently submitted bids for town work, in the event you wish to contact them for your own needs. They are:

SAB Lawn and Landscaping (703-661-6010)
HedgeHog Landscapes, Inc. (703-335-2992)

Thank you everyone for your patience and cooperation during the storm and its aftermath."
