Occoquan Holds Annual Blessing Service

On Dec. 4, the Town of Occoquan, together with Rev. Charles Lundy of Ebenezer Baptist Church, and members of his congregation, gathered in the historic church on the corner of Washington and Commerce for the town blessing.

The gathering is an annual tradition: a time when the town is blessed for another year. Rev. Lundy joked he only agreed to conduct the service so long as they could continue to violate the noise ordinance in town during the sunrise service on Easter Sunday morning. The service also included comments from Occoquan Mayor Earnie Porta, a reading of Luke 2, and rousing worship music from the choir.

In the audience, in addition to Occoquan town council members, Del. Luke Torian was also in attendance. Since redistricting, Occoquan is now in Torian's district.
