May 2013 E-Update

My most recent E-Update with information about a few things going on around the Occoquan District.

Greetings!

It has been a few weeks since our last update and as you know, Memorial Day weekend is upon us. As you enjoy the weekend with your family, please take a moment to remember our men and women in the military and in particular, those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Below please find information on a few things happening in and around the district that may be of interest to you.

Dillingham Square Renovations

As you may have noticed, the Festival at Old Bridge/Dillingham Square Shopping Center has begun construction on a renovation project for the center. This includes a façade renovation, new landscaping, asphalt repairs and new signage. New trees, planting beds, shrubs and ornamental grasses will be planted as well. Construction is expected to be completed by the fall of 2013, but you will see a fair amount of activity in the meantime. This project was not required to go before the Board of Supervisors for approval, but it did require permits to ensure compliance with county construction standards. We will continue to monitor the progress of the project, and we are also happy to answer any questions you may have as it proceeds.

Antietam Mustang Stampede

From Potomac Local - The Antietam Elementary PTA is hosting the first annual Mustang Stampede Friday May 31, 2013.

The health fair will be held from 5 - 8 p.m. Come out and visit with participating vendors. Food will be sold during the event.

The Stampede (1 mile fun run) will begin at 6:15 p.m. by the school flag pole. The PTA has offered a running club to its students for the past three years to encourage the love of running and promote a healthy lifestyle.

This year it was decided to end the club with the health fair and stampede. Other elementary schools in Prince William County were invited to participate.

All proceeds from the event will go to fund activities, events and equipment to enrich the educational environment of our students.

Supervisor May's Constituent Service Facebook Page

Please be sure to check out our Facebook page the next time you log on. While I've always used Facebook personally and politically, recently I've found that many constituents want to contact me for constituent services on Facebook as well. As a result, we have created a special page designed specifically for constituent services. If you "like" this page, you will be able keep up with what's going on around the district, ask questions and even ask for help if you need it. Please be sure to check it out at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Supervisor-MikeMay/122519247895858

Thanks for reading our E-Update! If you would like to receive these E-Updates directly to your email, please contact Alyssa at aedson@pwcgov.org or call 703-792-5180. As always, if we can ever be of service to you, please do not hesitate to contact us by email, phone, or Facebook.

Best regards,

Mike May, Occoquan District Supervisor
