Apartment Fire Caused by Cigarette

The fire that caused over $1.5 million in damage to Lake Ridge apartments on May 10 was caused the improper disposal of a cigarette.

The fire that tore through two apartment buildings on in Lake Ridge May 10, causing between $1.5 million and $2 million in estimated damage and leaving 35 residents temporarily displaced, was caused by a smoke break on the fourth floor balcony of building 3695, according to a prepared statement by Prince William County Fire and Rescue.

After investigation, the fire was determined to be accidental and caused by the improper disposal of a cigarette.
