County Chairman Speaks Out About Manassas Triple Murders

County Chairman Corey Stewart wants Congress to provide more resources to federal immigration officials and the Department of Homeland Security to battle illegal immigration after three murders in Manassas that police say were allegedly committed by an illegal immigrant.

This is the second time in less than a year that an illegal immigrant has been accused of killing someone. In August 2010, Carlos Montano killed Benedictine Nun Sister Denise Mosier in a car crash, Stewart said.

"Now only six months after Sister Mosier’s death more fatalities have occurred involving an illegal alien," Stewart said. "In nearby Manassas, the primary suspect in a triple homicide is an illegal immigrant who was scheduled for deportation nearly 10 years ago. In 2004 and 2008 he committed two other crimes and still was not deported."

The man charged in the Manassas triple homicide is Jose Reyes Alfaro.

Even before the triple murders in Manassas, the Prince William County Board of Supervisors has been asking the Depart of Homeland Security (DHS) to release the names and whereabouts of the 3,000 or more illegal immigrants who Prince William authorities have handed over to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE), Stewart said. But federal officials refuse to release the information.

 "Congress needs to provide ICE and DHS with the resources they need to protect our citizens from criminal illegal aliens," he said. "Our community has already lost too many people to these felons that have no right to be here in the first place and we should not have to lose anymore."
