Dumfries Break-In Tied to Serial Burglaries in Prince William County

By Mary Stachyra Lopez

Prince William County Police have identified a break-in at a Dumfries hair salon as the latest burglary tied to a series of burglaries that took place in eastern Prince William County last weekend.

Police on Thursday released surveillance footage from a burglary at a Hair Cuttery on Waterway Drive in Dumfries, which they believe took place between 9 p.m. Friday and 3:23 a.m. Saturday. Investigators say the break-in is tied to thirteen other break-ins at businesses in the Dumfries and Woodbridge areas.

The footage shows two men—one in an orange sweatshirt, one in a black sweatshirt—standing outside the Hair Cuttery. The man in the black sweatshirt throws something at the glass door, then smashes it. The two raced inside, then the man in black checks the cash register. They both leave in under a minute.

A Hair Cuttery on Hedges Run Drive was also targeted over the weekend, in addition to barber shops, nail salons and dry cleaning stores.
