Police Identify Man Who Died in Woodbridge Car Crash

The driver, James Mikedes, suffered a medical emergency just before the crash, police said.

Police have identified Woodbridge resident James Mikedes, 61, as the driver who was fatally injured in a single vehicle crash in Woodbridge on Oct. 12. He passed away in the hospital on Oct. 20.

Police initially responded to the area of Woodfern Court and Woodlawn Court in Woodbridge on Oct. 12 at 9:25 p.m. for the report of a single vehicle collision.

"The investigation revealed that the driver, and only occupant, of a 2013 Scion XB was traveling westbound on Woodfern Court when he suffered a medical emergency causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a tree," Prince William County Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said. "The driver was transported to an area hospital where he died on Oct. 20 as a result of injuries sustained during the crash. The driver was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Speed, alcohol, and drug use are not factors."
