Virginia State Police have charged the driver of the Toyota Sienna that crashed early Tuesday on I-95 in Prince William County with stealing the vehicle in Herndon and fleeing police before flipping the vehicle and injuring its seven occupants, including herself.

Charged with DUI, eluding police and grand larceny is Sonia E. Lopez, 22, of Herndon, according to police spokeswoman Corinne N. Geller. Lopez is recovering from injuries at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC.

The Toyota Sienna she was driving had been reported stolen from a Herndon residence.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing and additional charges are pending, Geller said in a news release. The 15-year-old female passenger, who suffered the most serious, life-threatening injuries in the crash, is still being treated at Inova Fairfax Hospital.

A high-speed chase began with Fort Belvoir Police early Tuesday ended in the crash, which ejected four passengers from the mini van at the Exit 156B ramp leading to Dale Boulevard from I-95.

The driver lost control and ran off the left side of ramp, struck a guardrail and overturned onto the left shoulder.
