Homeowner Catches Teen Red-Handed During Burglary

The homeowner chased the teenager, who dropped a bag containing stolen items from the home, Prince William County Police said.

A Woodbridge homeowner caught a teenager running from his home with stolen goods, Prince William County Police said.

The homeowner arrived at the residence on the 14400 block of Meridian Drive Friday afternoon to find the teenage boy jumping over his back fence and running towards a nearby creek. The homeowner caught up with the teenager, who was wearing a backpack, and confronted him. The boy dropped the bag and ran, said police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok.

After the homeowner came back to the residence, he found that a rear glass door was broken, and the bag had contained items from the home. After an investigation, officers identified the teenager and charged him on Sunday, Perok said.

The 15-year-old is now charged with grand larceny and burglary.
