Manassas Woman Charged With Murder, Child Abuse in Lake Ridge Area

Police arrested Tyesha Green on March 2.

Police arrested Manassas resident Tyesha Green on March 2 and charged her with murder and child abuse after the death of a three-month-old baby boy in May of 2010, according to police spokesperson Jonathan Perok.

On May 9, 2010, police and medical response teams responded to the 4500 block of Kingsley Road near Lake Ridge because of the report of an unresponsive child. The three-month-old baby boy was pronounced deceased after he was taken to an area hospital.

The accused told police that she had been sleeping in the same bed with the baby, and she awoke during the night to find that the baby was unresponsive.

Police later determined that the accused had been smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol before going to bed that night.

After an extended forensics investigation, investigators found that there were multiple factors in the child's death, including "poor prenatal care, no well child care, no follow-up treatment for an infection previous [sic] diagnosed and an unsafe sleeping environment. Based on the review, the lack of necessary care required to be provided by the accused resulted in the victim's death," the police report read.
