Pastor Dies in Motorcycle Crash

Elijah Byrd, pastor at Open Arms Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, died after losing control of his motorcycle and hitting a tree on Saturday.

Elijah Alexander Byrd, of the 4600 block of Kentwood Road in Dale City, died on Saturday after crashing on his motorcycle.

Prince William County Police spokesman Jonathan Perok said the crash occurred on Joplin Road near mile marker 20 in Triangle at about 2:53 p.m. on Saturday. Perok said that Byrd lost control of his 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle and struck a tree. Speed did appear to be a factor in the crash, Perok said.

Byrd was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
