Police: 3-Year-Old Found Alone in Car at Potomac Mills at 6 a.m.

Father charged with felony child neglect, public intoxication and other charges, according to Prince William County Police.

A man is in custody after his three-year-old son was found unattended in a car at Potomac Mills Mall.

Ryan Rodriguez Chambers, 32, of the 1900 block of Beverly Road, Brooklyn, N.Y., was charged with felony child neglect, felony child endangerment, possession of
marijuana and intoxication in public.

Police responded to a report of a child unattended at 6:17 a.m. Saturday morning to find the boy in a car parked in a fire lane.

Officers were able to determine that the boy was left alone in the car for at least 30 minutes. The boy was not injured.

Chambers appeared a short time after officers arrived, according to police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok.

"Officers immediately detected an odor of alcohol coming from the accused and arrested him for public intoxication," Perok said. "When officers searched the accused, they located a bag of marijuana."
