Woodbridge Man Charged With Assault and Battery at Taco Bell

Gustavo Gomez Martinez was charged with assault and battery on two law enforcement officers and two female Taco Bell employees. The following arrest information was supplied by the PWC police department and does not indicate a conviction.

On May 15, police arrested Woodbridge resident Gustavo Gomez Martinez and charged him with assault and battery on two law enforcement officers and two female Taco Bell employees, after an incident in which the accused reportedly attacked the employees and then reportedly resisted arrest, police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said.

Police initially responded at 8:33 p.m. for a report of a disorderly person at the at 12712 Harbor Drive in Woodbridge.Β 

"The investigation revealed that the accused became disorderly at the establishment and appeared to have been intoxicated," Perok said. "During the encounter, the accused went behind the counter and assaulted two employees, a 35-year-old woman of Woodbridge and a 21-year-old woman of Dumfries. One of the employees, the 35-year-old woman, was pushed by the accused into a back office who then began making threats and preventing her from leaving."

Other employees reportedly managed to restrain the accused until police arrived. As police tried to arrest the accused, "he became very combative, kicking one officer several times to the chest, arms and legs, as well as attempting to choke another officer," Perok said.

Police eventually managed to control the accused, but both employees and officers had minor injuries.

Martinez was charged with two counts of assault and battery on law enforcement officers, two counts of assault and battery, one count of abduction, one count of resisting arrest, and one count of intoxication in public, Perok said.

His court date is Aug. 1. He is being held without bond.
