Keith Fimian Officially Concedes

Gerald 'Gerry' Connolly is Official Winner of Drawn Out Election

Republican Keith Fimian has officially conceded the 11th district congressional race to Gerry Connolly, The Washington Post reports. In a statement released by Fimian that was posted in full on the Post's website, Fimian said, "For me, today is the end of this campaign."

In the release, Fimian goes on to congratulate Connolly and said he is open to revisiting his decision and considering a request for a recount (which he is eligible to do after Nov. 22) if the results change "significantly" after another canvass of the election results are completed.

According to the Virginia State Board of Elections website, Connolly was shown to lead Fimian by 981 votes, or 0.4 percent of the total votes.
