Public Meeting on Oaks III Development Set For June 1

Occoquan Mayor Earnie Porta encourages all to attend.

The following was taken from the May 22 email update from Occoquan Mayor Earnie Porta:

"At 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, there will be a public meeting at the Occoquan Town Hall on the proposed Oaks III development.  As some of you may recall from earlier e-newsletters, this development is planned for the northwestern corner of Tanyard Hill and Old Bridge roads.

Prince William County is currently considering a rezoning request associated with Oaks III.  Specifically, the developer is requesting that approximately three acres be rezoned from Agricultural to Office Low-Rise so that a 32,500 square foot office building may be built on the site, along with an expanded parking area for the adjacent commercial property. Additionally, the developer is requesting that approximately 1.23 acres be rezoned from Agricultural to Semi-Rural Residential, and that approximately 13.58 acres be set aside as a conservation area.  At the public meeting the developer will make a presentation on his plans and solicit public comment.

The Town Council has adopted a resolution opposing the development as currently proposed and urging the Board of County Supervisors to deny the rezoning request.  To view the resolution click here.   I encourage all of you who are interested in this matter to please attend the public meeting on June 1."
