Snow Likely Adding More School Days to Semester

Prince William County looks to change June calendar after winter mess.

Summer break will, ironically, be pushed back to the first day of summer, under a proposal by Prince William County Schools administrators to make up for the big pile of snow days this winter.

Last month, the school board voted to take back a teacher workday, cut five minutes off recess and extend the end of the school year to June 18.

With this week's two days off and a two-hour delay Wednesday, that lost time will likely be made up with school days June 19 and June 20. The proposal by Superintendent Steven Walts will be considered by the school board during its meeting March 19.
