103-Year-Old Woman to Play Scrabble in 2013 Northern Virginia Senior Olympics

She's also registered to compete in Mexican Train Dominoes and Wii Bowling.

Lake Ridge resident Doris Woodring, 103, will return to the Northern Virginia Senior Olympics to play Scrabble in this year's competition.

She's also registered to compete in Mexican Train Dominoes and Wii Bowling.

This year's NVSO is Sept. 7-19 at 17 different locations throughout the Northern Virginia area.

“So far Ms. Woodring is the only 100-plus person registered,” registration chairman Jack Hobbs said. “We usually have about 20 in their 90s who compete in bowling, eight ball pool, swimming, duplicate bridge, line dancing, cribbage and field events such as the mini javelin throw."

To compete in the NVSO, you must be at least 50 years old and live in a sponsored jurisdiction. To learn more, and to register, visit www.nvso.us.
