Lancers to Stay at LRCSC, Contract Could be Renewed After 2013 Season

The Lake Ridge Community Swim Club voted to host the Lancers at their board meeting this week.

After weeks of negotiations, the Lake Ridge Community Swim Club Board of Directors has officially voted to host the Lake Ridge Lancers for the 2013 season, according to the Lancers' Facebook page

This overturns their controversial decision earlier this summer to no longer host the Lancers. When that earlier decision was announced, swim team parents and swim club members hit Lake Ridge Patch's comment section to discuss everything from the transparency of the LRCSC board to the mess left after swim meets.

LRCSC members expressed a desire for the club to continue hosting the swim team that had called the LRCSC their home for several decades. The LRCSC agreed to negotiate a possible return with the Lancers.

In the Oct. 24 board meeting, the LRCSC and the Lancers signed a contract for the 2013 season, with a provision that would allow for renewal of the contract beyond the 2013 season.

"As the President of the Lancers, I applaud the efforts of the Lancers and the Club boards to restore the hosting relationship and quickly reach a mutually beneficial agreement for 2013," Lancers president Dave Ross said. "The agreement also embraces the growth of the Lancers and Club membership. The Lancers and the Club look forward to continuing to offer to the community one of the most vibrant and successful swim teams in the region, and an affordable and family-friendly swim club venue that offers activities for the entire family."

The LRCSC did not respond to requests for comment.
