Live Music with Lawrence McKenna

Grab a glass of wine and a picnic basket, kick back, and listen to local artist Lawrence McKenna at Lost Creek Winery in Leesburg. Thursday, July 4, 2 p.m.

Firecracker 5K for the Troops

Honor local military members at Potomac River Running’s Firecracker 5K for the Troops on the Fourth of July at Reston Town Center. Net proceeds from this race will benefit the USO of Metropolitan Washington. PR Running will host a school supply drive for USO-Metro’s Operation Back to School program, which provides thousands of local military children with a backpack filled with school supplies. Thursday, July 4, 8 a.m.

City of Fairfax Fourth of July Parade

The 47th annual Independence Day parade will start at 4100 Chain Bridge Road in Fairfax, rain or shine. Eight high school marching bands, including Fairfax High School, will participate in the parade.

This year’s Grand Marshal is the Honorable Quin S. Elson, a longtime community activist and Fairfax Police Youth Club volunteer. Thursday, July 4, 10 a.m

July 4th Fest at Six Flags America

Celebrate the Fourth of July at Six Flags America. Guests who bring in any Coca-Cola product on that day will receive guaranteed entry to the park an hour early. The park will feature live entertainment including a performance by the Army Band and fireworks at night. 

Mount Vernon Estate Fourth of July Celebration

George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estates and Gardens celebrates Independence Day with daytime fireworks during its annual Independence Day event! For the first time ever, visitors will be treated to spectacular smoke fireworks in patriotic colors fired during the finale of the National Concert Band of America's performance. The event also includes a naturalization ceremony for 100 new citizens, military reenactments, a special wreathlaying ceremony, free birthday cake for all (while supplies last), and a visit from "General and Mrs. Washington."   Thursday, July 4, 9:30 a.m to 1 p.m.

Fireworks at the Workhouse 

The Workhouse Arts Center will present a concert and patriotic fireworks show. Bring your family, friends, blankets and lawn chairs and come watch as the colors light up the sky. Saturday, July 6, 9 p.m.

Vienna Fourth of July Festival

The Town of Vienna hosts its annual Fourth of July Festival at the Vienna Community Center. This year's festival features the Presentation of Colors by the Vienna Police Honor Guard, a performance by the Vienna Community Band, a chili cookoff, and fireworks. New this year is Pooches on Parade at noon, so deck out your pup in his best July 4th costume so he can participate. Thursday, July 4, 11 a.m to 4 p.m. Fireworks and entertainment begin at 7 p.m.
