Costumes Worn in Movie Classics on Display

See the costumes worn in films including Superman, Titanic, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) is hosting Hollywood Costume, an exhibit of clothing worn in films including "The Wizard of Oz," "The Birds," "My Fair Lady," "Superman," "Titanic," "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" and "The Dark Knight Rises."

The exhibition, organized by the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, examines the central role costume design plays in cinematic storytelling. VMFA is premiering Hollywood Costume in the United States, and is the only East Coast venue for the exhibition. The exhibit is at VMFA through Feb. 17, 2014.

Entry times for the exhibit are every 30 minutes, beginning at 10 a.m. Tickets must be purchased for a specific time.  Admission is:

VMFA is offering special events in conjunction with the exhibit Hollywood Costume.  These include a movie-a-day extravaganza and a photo exhibit featuring more than 90 original vintage prints of stars.VMFA is located at 200 N. Boulevard, Richmond, Va.  General admission is free.
