Watch Live: Virginia Republican Convention 2013

Ken Cuccinelli is expected to accept the gubernatorial nomination Saturday at the Virginia Republican Convention in Richmond.

Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli is expected to formally accept the Republican nomination for Governor on Saturday morning, delivering a speech at the Virginia GOP's convention. More than 13,000 delegates are registered for the event. As the Republican candidate, Cuccinelli will face off against Democrat Terry McAuliffe in the Nov. 5 general election. The address is scheduled to begin around 10:45 a.m. Saturday. You can stream it live in the video above.

Vandal Smashes Window on County Vehicle

The damage was around $2,000, Prince William County Police said.

A vandal shattered a window and chipped the windshield of a parked Prince William County vehicle in the Dumfries area, according to police.  A Prince William County employee reported that the vandalism likely occured between 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 a.m. Thursday. At the time of the vandalism, the vehicle was parked by Northgate Drive and Edgewood Drive.  The property damage was reported at around $2,000. No information on the suspect was immediately available, police said. 

Surveillance Photos Show Suspects in Armed Robberies

The suspects used credit cards reported stolen in the robberies, Prince William County Police said.

Prince William County Police have released surveillance photos of the suspects in two recent armed robberies .   The photos are from stores in the Woodbridge area, where the suspects used credit cards reported stolen in the robberies, police said.  Police responded to the first incident at Sunday at 8 a.m., when a 37-year-old Woodbridge man reported that he was robbed. The victim said that he made arrangements to meet an unknown woman near Gardenview Loop and Summerland Drive. After he arrived, he found the woman with a man who demanded that the victim hand over car keys and money. The man and the woman took the victim's cell phone and an undisclosed amount of cash, then fled with his Toyota SUV. The victim was not injured. Around 1:07 p.m…

Fugitive of the Week: Suspect Escapes After Wild Police Chase

Prince William County Police said that Christopher Blakeney, of Triangle, nearly ran over two officers who tried to arrest him, and hit an occupied car.

The suspect in a February assault case led police on a wild car chase Friday morning, nearly hitting two police officers and crashing into an occupied vehicle, Prince William County Police said.  Christopher Blakeney, 29, of Bellau Woods Drive in Triangle, is now wanted on multiple charges, including attempted malicious wounding of a law enforcement officer, according to police.  Prince William County officers and members of the U.S. Marshals’ Fugitive Task Force were trying to serve warrants on Blakeney at 8:35 a.m., when they saw him getting into a car. At that point, Blakeney had to stop behind other cars which were waiting to exit an apartment complex onto Fuller Heights Road. I-95 South Closed For Several Hours, Detour Information

Interstate closed for Hazmat spill, according to Virginia Department of Transportation.

Release, Virginia Department of Transportation:  Interstate 95 is closed south of Exit 133/Falmouth in Stafford County for a crash involving hazardous materials.  Southbound I-95 will be closed for a minimum of four hours. All southbound traffic is being detoured at Exit 133 to southbound Route 17 Business, and then  onto southbound Route 1. Traffic can return to southbound I-95 at Exit 130/Route 3 or Exit 126/Spotsylvania.    Due to the additional traffic, heavy congestion is expected on southbound Route 17 Business and southbound Route 1 this morning in the Fredericksburg area. Police: Woman Fled in Car as Officer Tried to Arrest Her

Julia Marie Essman, of Woodbridge, is charged with attempted malicious wounding of a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and driving with a suspended license.

A police officer sustained minor injuries while trying to serve several warrants on a Woodbridge woman, according to Prince William County Police.  Julia Marie Essman, 28, of Cavalier Drive in Woodbridge, is charged with attempted malicious wounding of a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and driving with a suspended license. Police said that at 2 p.m. Wednesday, the officer approached Essman's car, which was parked in a driveway on Traveller Street in the Manassas area. As the officer got closer, Essman put the car in reverse, nearly striking the officer, said Officer Jonathan Perok, a spokesman for the police department.
