The magazine's 2013 report out this week recognizes several Northern Virginia schools.
On mobile? You can see interactive map here. Newsweek has ranked Woodbirdge High School at No. 1,424 among high school in the country. For its rankings, Newsweek sent out a survey to more than 5,000 high schools in the U.S., with about 2,500 schools responding in 2013. You can see the details about Woodbridge High's ranking, and every other ranked high school by clicking on the markers in the interactive map above. The survey scores were then weighted and calculated using several criteria including on-time graduation and college acceptance rates. Release, Prince William County Schools: The following graduation dates, times, and locations have been announced for Prince William County Public Schools high school, summer school, practical nursing program, and adult education students. Events scheduled at Jiffy Lube Live Pavilion and the Patriot Center are subject to change. Members of the Prince William County School Board are expected to attend many of these events.

For years, the Boy Scouts of America has struggled with whether to lift its ban on gay scouts and leaders. But it may be an issue the organization will soon put, at least partially, to rest. In response to the flood of feedback the group has recieved since last summer, when it voted to uphold policy banning gay members and LGBTQ leaders, the Boy Scouts of America announced Friday it was proposing an end to the ban for youth scouts. The organization would still ban adults "who are open or avowed homosexuals or who engage in behavior that would become a distraction to the mission of the BSA," according to the draft policy. Lockdown at Woodbridge campus over gun that turned out to be Airsoft weapon, Prince William County Police said.
Police charged a Godwin Middle School student with brandishing a weapon on school property and possession of a firearm or other weapon on school property after one of the suspect's friends was reportedly struck in the leg with an Airsoft pellet on April 11, Prince William County Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said. The Woodbridge male teen was charged that same day. Police initially responded to the middle school on April 11 at 3:56 p.m. for the report of a person brandishing a gun on school property. "Multiple police units responded quickly to the school and secured a perimeter. Once on scene, officers learned that the suspect was a student of the school and was detained in the principal’s office," Perok said. "Officers further …

The extent of the damage to the bus is not known.
A PWCS bus was carrying 10 students this afternoon when it was involved in a collision at the intersection of Old Bridge Road and Occoquan Road, possibly with another vehicle. None of the bus occupants were injured, but the extent of the damage to the bus is unknown. PWCS Community Relations Office Supervisor Irene Cromer could not confirm the cause of the accident. All-Americans lead 4x400 relay to one second off the state's record.
Some of Prince William County Schools' top athletes at Woodbridge High shined last weekend at the New Blanace Indoor Nationals in New York City. All-Americans Kady Badham, Olivia Coopwood, Jewel Christian, and Farrah Suber placed third in the nation in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:47, according to a release. That time is the second fastest in Virginia history — only a second off the first place. The Woodbridge High School girls also took 8th place in the 4x200 relay.
