The Washington Redskins face the Seattle Seahawks this weekend in one of four NFL wildcard games.
The Washington Redskins have spent since 2007 traveling the road back to the NFL playoffs -- but it's been a heck of a ride. Next stop: Sunday's wildcard game against the Seattle Seahawks. All this hailing to the Redskins should seem familiar. In 2007, the Redskins also made the 2007 NFL playoffs as a wildcard team. And, just like this year, that 2007 playoff game was against the Seattle Seahawks. Let's hope the similarities end there, because the Seahawks won the last time around. That game, though was in Seattle. Sunday, the Redskins are at home for the first time in the NFL playoffs since they beat the Detroit Lions in 1999. Find more Redskins playoff history here. Can Robert Griffin III -- RG3 -- pull off another run against the …

Washington Redskins defensive lineman Chris Baker and rookie running back Alfred Morris stopped by the school to present the grant and encourage kids to exercise.
Two Washington Redskins players stopped by Godwin Middle School today to present school officials with a $10,000 NFL Play 60 grant to fund intramural athletic programs at the school. While at the school, defensive lineman Chris Baker and rookie running back Alfred Morris took some time to talk to the assembled students about the importance of exercise and proper diets, and challenge them to exercise 60 minutes a day as part of the NFL Play 60 program. "Child obesity is really big in the United States nowadays," Baker said. "In order for you guys to be great athletes, you have to eat well. You have to exercise every day. To become an NFL athlete or a professional athlete, you have to be at the top of your game at all times. You have to …

The Lake Ridge Community Swim Club voted to host the Lancers at their board meeting this week.
After weeks of negotiations, the Lake Ridge Community Swim Club Board of Directors has officially voted to host the Lake Ridge Lancers for the 2013 season, according to the Lancers' Facebook page. This overturns their controversial decision earlier this summer to no longer host the Lancers. When that earlier decision was announced, swim team parents and swim club members hit Lake Ridge Patch's comment section to discuss everything from the transparency of the LRCSC board to the mess left after swim meets. LRCSC members expressed a desire for the club to continue hosting the swim team that had called the LRCSC their home for several decades. The LRCSC agreed to negotiate a possible return with the Lancers. In the Oct. 24 board meeting, …

What would you do to see the Washington Nationals play the St. Louis Cardinals? On Sunday, the Nats won 3-2 in St. Louis. The Cardinals came back strong in the second game, defeating the Nationals 12-4. This is the first game of the series at Nats Park in D.C.
