Five Things to Know This Week in Woodbridge

Occoquan town elections are tomorrow.

Occoquan town elections are tomorrow. No opponents have filed for candidacy, so Mayor Earnie Porta and council members Kenneth Brunsvold, Denise Bush, Elizabeth Quist, Patrick Sivigny and James Walber will all win reelection unless any write-in candidates drum up enough support. Farmer's market returns to Occoquan for new season

The weekly farmer's market features the goods of local farmers and chefs.

The Occoquan Farmer's Market returned April 23 for another year. Vendors displayed fresh and local produce and baked goods. Despite last year's dry weather, the vendors were optimistic that this summer would be a good summer for produce. "It looks like it's going to be a good season - lots of water," said Omar Medina of Zamora Produce in Westmoreland County. He based this prediction on the abundance of produce he's had so far this season. "Last year was pretty bad, but we're expecting a good year, not based on weather, but based on hard work," said Chef Christopher Edwards, of Patowmack Farm in Lovettsville. The Farmer's Market is held Saturdays at 125 Mill Street in Occoquan.
