Tree fell on man in Bacon Race Road incident. Prince William County Police said he died at the scene.
A man hired to cut down a tree for a homeowner on Bacon Race Road died Monday when the tree fell on him and killed him, according to Prince William County Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok. The 59-year-old worker's identity has not yet been released, but he died at the scene. We will update this story with more information as we receive it.

Reckless driving charge after victim dies from head injuries, according to Prince William County Police.
A woman was arrested after another Woodbridge woman died due to a head injury sustained in a car crash, Prince William County police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said. Ruth Del Carmen Zelaya Campos, 38, was charged with reckless driving. Her court date is unavailable, and she was released on summons. A 2012 Toyota Tacoma reportedly crashed into a 2007 Toyota Scion on Feb. 4 at about 2 p.m. Earnestine R. Larry, 58, a passenger in the Scion, did not ask for medical treatment at the time, but she was taken to the hospital later that evening. "On Feb. 9, the victim reportedly succumbed to a head injury sustained as a result of the crash," Perok said. "No other significant injuries were reported. The investigation continues."

A Virginia Railway Express train on the Fredericksburg line struck and killed a Woodbridge man in Dumfries Monday night.
A pedestrian killed after being struck by a Virginia Railway Express train passing through Dumfries on the Fredericksburg line on Monday night was identified on Thursday as 44-year-old Woodbridge resident James Michael Gullo, Prince William County police reported. "Further details into the death are still under investigation," a release read. Gullo had been seen standing on the VRE tracks on Monday shortly before 7 p.m. as the train approached. He did not move in time and was struck by the train. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say speed and alcohol were not factors in this crash.
Woodbridge resident Anthony Hood was killed in a crash involving a vehicle last night on Old Bridge Road, Prince William County police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said. Hood was reportedly crossing Old Bridge Road near Troupe Street when he stepped in front of the driver of a 1999 Mercury Sable Wagon going east. "The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where he died," Perok said. "The driver of the Mercury remained at the scene. Speed and alcohol are not factors in this collision. The pedestrian was crossing the roadway outside of a designated crosswalk." Police responded to the scene at 11:10 p.m. on Tuesday. No one else was injured. The driver of the Mercury Sable Wagon was a 23-year-old Manassas man.

A Woodbridge man was fatally injured on the evening of Aug. 25 when he attempted to cross Jefferson Davis Highway and stepped in front of a moving 2004 Ford Expedition going north, Prince William County police said. Police responded to the 13700 block of Jefferson Davis Highway at 8:25 p.m. The driver of the Expedition stayed on scene. The pedestrian, identified as Noel Mejia Ayala, 34, of Woodbridge, was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. Update, 10:44 a.m. May 4: The pedestrian killed in Thursday's Dale City crash on Dale Boulevard near Forestdale Avenue has been identified as Howard Edward Rice, 42, of Dale City. Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said in a release Friday morning that an investigation revealed two cars were involved in the crash. Perok said the driver of a 1999 Volvo S70 was traveling eastbound on Dale Boulevard near Forestdale Avenue, Rice was struck by the Volvo as he attempted to cross Dale Boulevard heading towards Forestdale Plaza.
