Tour guide Kathleen "Kay" Pietrewicz will give a historical tour focused on the life of Occoquan legend Mamie Davis.
Haunted Occoquan's spring ghost tour season has begun, and tour guide Kathleen "Kay" Pietrewicz will give a tour this Friday on the life of Occoquan legend Mamie Davis. "I just thought we'd remember her," Pietrewicz said. A former Occoquan Mayor and longtime pillar of the town, Davis' birthday was this week. The tour will begin at Mamie Davis Park, which was named after Davis when she set up a fund for the upkeep of the park. No reservation is necessary. The new site is up and running in time for the spring tour season.
Local paranormal investigator Kathleen "Kay" Pietrewicz recently launched Haunted-Occoquan.com, where site visitors can book an Occoquan ghost tour and learn more about the tours. "It presents the way I want it to present, because it's not the blood dripping -- I'm not the haunted house type," said Pietrewicz, who made the website herself. She's recently spoken to some photographers. "I'm looking to get more atmospheric photos," she said. Customers can't yet pay for their tours online, but they can make a reservation online, and pay in cash or by credit card in person just before the ghost tour. Kathleen “Kay” Pietrewicz hopes to reach new segments of the community in 2013.
The New Year is the beginning of several weeks of down time for Haunted Occoquan, as the ghost tours only run from March through December. But for owner and paranormal investigator Kathleen “Kay” Pietrewicz, the hiatus just leaves more room to plan. Since she officially took ownership of the ghost tours after the Occoquan Merchant Association folded last fall, Pietrewicz has been planning to expand and diversify the ghost tour business, and reach more of the community. "I'm planning on offering historical tours, without the ghost tours, because we have so much history here," she said. "I would like to gear some to children." She wants to reach out to home school groups for weekday tours. Creating a web page is also on her to-do list. …
