An 18-year-old Lake Ridge man was arrested this week and charged with aggravated sexual battery and indecent liberties with a minor after a sexual assault was reported to police, police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said. Detectives from the Special Victims Bureau began investigating the assault on June 15 at 5:36 a.m. after the report of a sexual assault the night before. "The investigation revealed that the victim, a 9-year-old boy of Woodbridge, had been sexually assaulted by the accused, a family member," Perok said. The accused was arrested after the investigation. His court date is unavailable. He is being held without bond.

On June 3, a homeowner in the 12000 block of Cavalier Drive in Lake Ridge told police that a bike worth about $100 was stolen from their garage, police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said. The homeowner said that the burglary happened between 8 a.m. on May 22 and 6 p.m. on May 24. When police investigated at 3:44 p.m. on June 3, they found no signs that anyone had forced their way into the house. Instead, any burglar could have entered the house through an unlocked garage, Perok said.

On Sunday, a homeowner in the 3300 block of Wyndale Court reported the theft of a handgun worth about $500, police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said. The homeowner told police that the burglary happened between noon on May 9 and noon on May 13. When police responded at 11:20 p.m. on Sunday, they found no signs of forced entry into the house. On May 28, a homeowner in the 2800 block of Chablis Circle in Lake Ridge reported the theft of a laptop and a watch, together worth about $5,200, Perok said. The homeowner told police that the burglary happened between 7:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. the night before. A Lake Ridge homeowner reported the theft of an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency from their home on the 11700 block of Cotton Mill Drive, police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said. The homeowner said that the burglary happened between 10:30 p.m. on May 22 and 4:45 a.m. on May 23. When police responded at 6:14 a.m. on May 23, they did not find signs that anyone had forced entry into the home, and concluded that the burglar must have entered through an unlocked garage door. A 37-year-old Woodbridge man was arrested yesterday and charged with aggravated sexual battery, forcible sodomy, object sexual penetration, and indecent liberties against a young Woodbridge girl, police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said. "The investigation revealed that the victim, a 10-year-old girl of Woodbridge, was sexually assaulted by the accused, a known family member, the night prior," Perok said. The accused, another Woodbridge man, reportedly brandished a handgun at the two residents after a previous encounter.
On May 18, a 24-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man, both of Woodbridge, were driving in the area of Prince William Parkway and Old Bridge Road when an acquaintance pulled up next to them in his vehicle and reportedly pointed a handgun at them, police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said. The victims told police that the brandishing was likely motivated by a previous encounter. The accused did not fire, and when officers arrived at 5:23 p.m., they were able to find and arrest him without any further incidents. The accused, also of Woodbridge, has been charged with two counts of brandishing a firearm. His court date is unavailable, and he is being held on a $10,000 secured bond. On May 18, a 66-year-old man was driving along Oakwood Drive when he heard a popping noise, and noticed that one of the vehicle's windows now had a small hole in it, police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said. Police reponded at 11:15 p.m. to the man's report of a shooting into an occupied vehicle. "Officers were able to locate a juvenile suspect, a 12-year-old boy of Woodbridge, who was determined to have shot a BB rifle at the moving vehicle," Perok said. "Charges are pending. Brach Thompson of Dale City was arrested May 6 and charged with burglary after homeowners in the 12400 block of Cavalier Drive reported the loss of about $2,000 worth of jewelry, police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said. The homeowners told police that the burglary happened between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. that same day. When police responded at 7:41 p.m., they found no signs that anyone had broken into the residence. However, the rear door had been left unlocked. After canvassing the neighborhood, police got enough information to identify suspects, and arrested Thompson.
