The Lake Ridge area will now have two ABC stores.
A new Virginia ABC store opened last week at Tacketts Mill Shopping Center on Old Bridge Road in Lake Ridge. It's the second ABC store in the Lake Ridge area, joining the one at Merchant Plaza near Panera. The store's grand opening is May 1 at 9:30 a.m. and the first 25 customers will get a free non-alcoholic gift. “We hope that this addition to our network of stores in Prince William County will provide customers with greater convenience,” said Wilson Jones, director of retail operations. “Our store staff is eager to create a shopping experience tailored to customers’ tastes. A Triangle man is charged with the assault, according to Prince William County Police.
Prince William County Police have charged Triangle resident Joseph Nathanael Williams, 24, with assaulting a police officer after the officer was reportedly assaulted at Tacketts Mill Shopping Center on March 2, police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said. The officer was reportedly patrolling the shopping center at 2219 Old Bridge Road at about 9:15 p.m. on March 2 when he found Williams, determined that he was wanted, and tried to arrest him. "At that point, the accused pushed one of the officers and fled on foot," Perok said. "Following a short foot pursuit, the accused was apprehended without further incident." No one was injured. Three victims report parking lot incident to Prince William County Police.
Prince Wiliam County Police are on the lookout for two unknown individuals in an armed robbery Wednesday night near the Tacketts Mill shopping center, according to police spokesman Jonathan Perok. Officers responded at 10:01 p.m. to the 2200 block of Tacketts Mill Drive. Three victims, all of Lorton, told police they were walking to their car in the parking lot when two men approached them. One of the robbers was holding a handgun and demanded money. The robbers fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. No injuries were reported. A K-9 unit failed to find the suspects. Laptops, other items worth about $7,000.
Employees at BMK Engineering, Inc., in Lake Ridge, recently reported a burglary and the loss of $7,000 worth of equipment to police, Prince William County police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said. The employees told police a burglar broke into the business between 5:30 p.m. Dec. 6 and 2:40 p.m. Dec. 7. When police responded to BMK Engineering on Tacketts Mill Drive at 3 p.m. Dec. 7, they found the front door had been pried open. Police believe the burglar most likely entered that way. The burglar reportedly stole two laptops and other items, all worth about $7,000.

Lake Ridge residents were willing to wait in line for tickets.
After the Obama campaign announced that Michelle Obama would be campaigning in Dale City on Thursday, local residents hurried to get in line at 10 a.m. this morning. By 10:15 a.m., the line was steadily growing outside the Tacketts Mill Shopping Center. Tickets were first-come, first served. The first lady will visit the VFW Post 1503 at 14631 Minnieville Rd on Thursday from noon to 2:30 p.m. This will be a meeting geared towards thanking and encouraging supporters and volunteers, the Obama campaign said.
