District to hold ceremonies for high school seniors beginning May 31.

Release, Prince William County Schools: The following graduation dates, times, and locations have been announced for Prince William County Public Schools high school, summer school, practical nursing program, and adult education students. Events scheduled at Jiffy Lube Live Pavilion and the Patriot Center are subject to change. Members of the Prince William County School Board are expected to attend many of these events.

Prince William County Police searched area for three suspects in nearby armed home invasion.
Woodbridge High, Lake Ridge Middle and Old Bridge Elementary schools were on lockdown mid-day Thursday as a precaution, according to officials. Prince William County Police were investigating a report of an armed home invasion in the 12500 block of Colebrook Court, near Woodbridge High, according to a post at the PWCPD Facebook page. Schools resumed normal operations shortly after 1 p.m., following an extensive search, according to police. The search including K9 units and a helicopter. According to police, three masked men reportedly entered the home armed with handguns. The men fled the area, likely in a car, with no injuries reported and nothing taken, according PWCPD. The extent of the damage to the bus is not known.
A PWCS bus was carrying 10 students this afternoon when it was involved in a collision at the intersection of Old Bridge Road and Occoquan Road, possibly with another vehicle. None of the bus occupants were injured, but the extent of the damage to the bus is unknown. PWCS Community Relations Office Supervisor Irene Cromer could not confirm the cause of the accident. Event at Freedom High School raising money for family of officer killed in Manassas wreck.
Prince William County Schools' basketball stars will be competing Tuesday night for a good cause — supporting the family of a fallen Prince William County Police officer. Hoops Fest 18 is an annual fundraiser spotlighting the top basketball talent in the school division in several individual and team competitions. Admission is $10, with proceeds supporting the family of officer Chris Yung. Yung died in the line of duty on Dec. 31 in a Manassas car accident. The event will begin at 7 p.m. at Freedom High School, 15201 Neabsco Mills Road. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by Prince William Today. Millions lost over five years with rate approved by Prince William County Supervisors on Tuesday.
Prince William County Schools will lose $1.3 million next year after the Board of County Supervisors lowered its projected rate increase for county tax bills, according to a district statement. Prince William County staff and the school district developed budgets that assumed an average tax bill increase of 4 percent for residential property owners. On Tuesday, the Supervisors cut the maximum rate increase that they would accept to 3.53 percent. That is an average tax rate of $1.196 per $100 of assessed value. Overnight snow showers blanket region.
Prince William County Schools announced early Thursday morning that schools will be closed today due to the snow showers overnight and early into the morning. Scheduled high school exams are moved to Friday, with Friday's exams moved to Monday, according to the PWCS Facebook Page. Schools will be open Monday, but closed Tuesday for a teacher workday.
