Weekend Planner: Motorcycle Ride, Ventriloquist, Open Climb

Get out this weekend.

When/Where: June 9, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. 10002 Battlefield Pkwy., Manassas.

Why Go: A 100-mile motorcycle ride through northern Virginia benefitting Jill's House, a respite center for children with special needs. Since its inception in 2009, over 400 riders and volunteers have participated and helped raise over $65,000 to benefit Jill's House.

Price: $35 per rider, $15 per passenger.

When/Where: June 9, 6 p.m. Dale City Baptist Church, 3501 Dale Blvd., Woodbridge. 

Why Go: Christian ventriloquist entertains families.

Price: Free.

When/Where: June 9, 10, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Lake Anna Winery, 5621 Courthouse Rd., Spotsylvania.

Why Go: Step back in time to the Renaissance and enjoy the music, food, costumes, and archery displays.

Price: Ages 6 and older, $9. Ages 5 and younger, free.

When/Where: June 10. Either 11 a.m.-1:45 p.m. or 1-3:45 p.m., depending on your registration choice. Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center, 10900 University Blvd., Manassas. Your start time indicates when you should arrive at the Freedom Center. After picking up your map at the front desk, plan on a 15 minute walk to the tower. Upon arrival, you will be given a 30 minute safety briefing and introduction. You are then free to climb at any of the six belay stations during your two hour climbing period. From these six stations, you can access any challenge on the tower. The Tower closes at 4 p.m.

Why Go: Explore and climb the Alpine Tower, the 50 foot vertical challenge course at The EDGE. The Tower has a myriad of routes up its hourglass structure which boasts high elements including the Beanstalk, Giant Ladder, Missing Link, Floating Poles, Diabolical Seesaw, Hanging Cargo Net, Hand-down Ropes and The Etriers. 

Price: $18 for the general public, $15 for GMU students and Freedom members, $12 for youth 9-12 years old.
