Habitat for Humanity to Celebrate World Habitat Day in the County

World Habitat Day is Oct. 3.

On Oct. 3, Habitat for Humanity of Prince William County will celebrate World Habitat Day and begin a weeklong fundraising effort for Habitat for Humanity International.

The local branch has built or repaired 75 out of Habitat's 500,000 homes. Habitat for Humanity often builds or rehabilitates homes after a natural disaster such as a hurricane.

During the Houses & Hammers campaign, the Habitat ReStore at 9506 Center Street in Manassas will sell "hammers" for a recommended donation of $1 each. Ninety percent of funds raised will go to support local home building or repair projects, while the other 10 percent will support similar efforts in another country. The fundraising goal is $3000.
