Debbie Allen's "Dancing in the Wings"

When/Where: Nov. 17, 2 p.m. 10960 George Mason Circle, Manassas.

Why Go: "For the first time, legendary choreographer, dancer and actress Debbie Allen has released the rights to one of her productions to a community arts organization. The Creative and Performing Arts Center (CAPAC, Inc.), based in the Washington, D.C. metro area, will present Allen’s Dancing in the Wings on four nights in November at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, where CAPAC is one of the founding Resident Arts Partners.

First commissioned by the Kennedy Center, the children’s play centers around 'Sassy,' a young dancer whose feet are too big and legs are too long to be a typical ballerina. But that doesn’t stop her from dreaming that she will emerge from behind the curtain, where she is dancing in the wings, to one day have her turn to dance in the spotlight."

Price: $15.
